Public Rowing Programs 

As a Rowing Canada and Row BC registered rowing school, we offer various rowing programs to the public. This is a great way to test the waters, and decide if rowing is for you. If you love it, then join our club and get unlimited access to our boats!!

Youth Introduction to Rowing Program (15-18yrs)

Our rowing introductory lessons are for teens, 15-18 years old, who are new to the sport of coastal rowing. Eight hours of instruction will get you to the point where you can safely launch, land and row on your own. Our boats are single sculls, and our goal is to get students confident and capable on the water. Fee for the class is $175. Students who decide to join our club after this class will be offered a $50 discount on the rowing fleet fee! Please note: youth are welcome to join either our adult or youth classes - whatever you wish, just scroll down this page for lesson dates at registration.

Eight hours of instruction (consisting of 4 lessons held over 2 weeks) will get you to the point where you can safely launch, land and row on your own. Our boats are single sculls, and our goal is to get students confident and capable on the water. Fee for the class is $175. Note that students who decide to join our club after this class will be offered a $50 discount on the rowing fleet fee!

    July 4 - July 25 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

    Meet at the Club Locarno rowing shed which is located at the East end of the Jericho compound (near the Windsure hut).

    Bring a wetsuit for the first lesson. You will need to perform a self-rescue in the ocean at the end of the first lesson. (Don't be nervous... everyone can do it!)
