SUP & Kayak Fall Work Party (24 Oct 2026)

Fall work party to carry out repairs, maintenance and prepare the SUPs, kayaks and related gear for the winter. As a joint SUP & kayak event, if you are a member of both fleets, you’ll be fulfilling two volunteer duties at once! Some things we can do:

wash and clean all the SUPs and kayaks
- inspect craft to see if repairs needed
- make any simple repairs
Organize all SUP & kayak equipment in the kayak shed
- paddles
- leashes
- PFDs
- Hatch covers etc.

Great opportunity to get together with other club members and chat about the outings and trips you've had this year.

Please register if you'd like to come and help keep the fleets in good repair.

Weather permitting - if it's miserable we will postpone - check the Kayaking and SUP Slack Chat channel for last minute updates.

P.S. We have a food budget: If someone would like to help organize a social and food after the work party, let me Mark or Gay know.

This is a member run, weekly kayak and a chance to meet other paddlers. The socials will vary depending on the weather and the group, from just a nice easy paddle to slightly more strenuous. The group will stay together for the social.

Guests & new members: You may bring a guest who has kayak paddling experience (remember you are responsible for guests & equipment you sign out). NEW MEMBERS ARE WELCOME (provided you have kayaking experience)! Check with the Kayak Director to see if someone might be able to sign you out as a guest and that you have suitable skills to join the social paddle.

Please register for the event, and cancel if you can't make it so others know if they will have company. Please check if others are registered before turning up, unless you're happy to paddle alone.

Canoe Checkout (31 Dec 2026)

Canoe checkout

The canoe is available for Club Locarno members who are members of, and checked-out, on SUP, Kayak/Surfski or Rowing fleets. To check out for the canoe, you must read the canoe usage guidelines and rules, and confirm that you have done so.

To checkout on the canoe - contact the Club Locarno Kayak Director at kayaking@clublocarno.com

Once you are checked for the canoe you can paddle from JSCA, or, for a nominal fee, rent the canoe for off-site use.
