SUP surfing trip to Tofino

We will most likely camp in Tofino, perhaps at Bella Pacifica. If enough people register, we may try to get a cabin instead.

We will only take 4 or 5 boards, so we will need to share, or we may rent additional boards in Tofino if we want to have a board for each person. A few places there rent SUPs (e.g. the Long Beach surf shop). You cannot reserve a particular club board for yourself for this trip.

Going to Tofino: We plan to leave around 3pm from the Club. You will need to coordinate with others to get a ride, possibly share some of the camping gear, etc. The easiest way to do this is to add Vasco Castela on Facebook, and ask to be added to the SUP discussion group. If you're not on Facebook, email Vasco (vice-commodore@clublocarno.com).

You should only join this trip if you are a competent swimmer and are comfortable in cold water, breaking waves, etc.

Carrying the boards: Very important: watch this video on how to securely strap down the SUP.  Ideally we will all do this together.  Vasco and Dave have cars with roof racks.

Wetsuits: The water is getting colder, and a 3/2 wetsuit is probably not enough for most people. A 5/4 is recommended, along with booties and gloves. All are available for rent in Tofino if you don't have your own.
