Volunteer Opportunities
There are two main areas where we need your help with the Rowing Fleet: Skills Development and Maintenance.
Skills Development
Rowing lessons always go better when our Instructor has help. If you are a confident rower and comfortable with club practices, please volunteer to help with beginner lessons. You will provide 1:1 coaching for launching, landing and rigging, and some on-the-water tips as your skills permit. Helping wit two lessons = your volunteer hours for the year ... painless!
We also need experienced rowers for group rowing; new rowers are often much more comfortable when someone with experience is there to look over their shoulder. You will provide general support for launching, landing and rigging, and some on-the-water tips as your skills permit.
Fleet Maintenance
Our ideal is to have one individual responsible for the well-being of each boat. You do not necessarily
need the skills to repair it, as long as you inspect it regularly, keep it clean, and report/flag any damage promptly.
Those with mechanical or fibreglass repair skills are needed to help repair damage as it arises; to the boats, the accessories and the facility (racks, etc). Repair work can include sourcing, purchasing, ordering and receiving parts, installation, delivery/pickup for external services, etc.
Please contact the
Rowing Director with your ideas and preferences.
