Dear Locarno windsurfers and others interested,

I hope you are all well. As you may know a project is currently underway in Squamish to restore the estuary. This work may result in the loss of the Spit as a windsurfing and kiting destination - certainly one of the best locations for these sports in the area. There has been a lot of concern and rumour regarding this project. We are fortunate to have a Locarno member is particularly well suited to inform us on the project and answer any questions, so we are organizing an online seminar.

The Squamish Spit: Does There Need to be a Divide Between Salmon and Windsports?

Locarno member Murray Manson is a biologist for Fisheries and Oceans Canada working on the Squamish Central Estuary Restoration Project. Murray will provide members with information on the project rationale and objectives, project accomplishments to date, and discuss how future project development may change the way we sail at the spit.

This is going to be an online presentation and all are welcome to join. We will be using a google meet hangout, and you can participate by accessing this link:

If you do plan to attend, please be so kind as to register for this event. This will help me make sure all unfolds smoothly. For questions feel free to email me or visit our squamish slack channel:
