Our 6 hour introductory course consists of two 3 hours sessions. The cost is $100 per person for both sessions. Each class requires at least 3 to sign up, and has a maximum of 4 participants.
The lessons will be provided by a Windsure certified windsurfing instructor and lessons may be taught on a combination of Club Locarno and WIndsure windsurfing equipment.
You will receive both on land and on water instruction. Skills taught include understanding the wind (points of sail), how to launch and land safely, basic maneuvers (tack) and how to self rescue. You will also be taught the correct handling of the gear including how to safely carry, clean and store the boards and sails.
A checkout by a Locarno windsurfing member will be performed either directly after the last lesson session on Sunday or the immediate following Wednesday where we will go over the "Locarno Way" of checking out and handling the gear safely and responsibly. Successful completion of this course and the following checkout will grant the new member use of our Level 1 Windsurfing equipment. You are required to provide your own Wetsuit, or you can rent a wetsuit at the Jericho Sailing Centre. WIndsure and Mac Sailing both rent wetsuits.
