BC Marine Trails - Coastal Caretakers

Calling all kayak  campers and day trippers...

Join us for a short presentation by Karina Younk of BC Marine Trails on their Coastal Caretakers program. 

Coastal Caretakers are BC Marine Trails members who wish to contribute to BCMT's vision of preserving and protecting our marine coastline as a natural recreation paradise for all to appreciate now and in the future. We are building a team of volunteers who clean up beaches wherever they go, report for us and inspire others to take charge.

BCMT thinks of Coastal Caretakers as individuals and groups who give VOICE to the coastal sites they explore. Your input and shared data extends BCMT's ability to advocate for safe marine recreation and continued access to the places we all love.

VOICE:

I - interacting with other visitors

C - caretaking to keep sites natural

E - exchanging data with BCMT

The Coastal Caretaker program is very simple with minimal reporting requirements, but will make a big difference to the state of our coastal recreation sites. A little more information about Coastal Caretakers here.

Who should attend: The Coastal Caretakers program will be of interest to any Club Locarno members that undertake day or overnight trips to coastal sites, either through club trips or kayak rentals.
