Day Trip - Twin Island

This is a return trip from Barnet Marine Park, an easy day trip with lunch at Twin Island. Suitable for beginners.

We would launch from Barnet Marine Park, paddle past Belcarra (following the shoreline of the Belcarra peninsula) and stop at Twin Island for lunch.  That should take about 1.5 hours of paddling (~7.5km).  If the group is interested we could explore Bedwell Bay, before paddling back to Barnet Marine Park. Possibly go to Jug Island Beach instead if the wind is against us.

Boat pickup: To be at Barnet Marine Park by 9am, you will need to meet at the JCSA at 7:30am to load the kayak onto the cars. (Don't let the early start deter you! Conditions are generally much more favourable in the early morning so it will be a better paddling experience).

Expectations of participants

This will not be a very demanding trip, subject of course to weather..  Participants are expected to be verbal and honest about their personal condition, energy level and state of mind. The group will stay together for the duration of the trip.

Meeting Point:

• JCSA for boat pickup: 7:30am
• Barnet Marine Park East parking lot: 9:30am

We encourage all kayak trippers to participate in the BC Marine Trails Coastal Caretakers program for site cleaning and reporting. Perhaps designate someone as the site reporter.
