This event is open to all Club Locarno members and all levels of kayaker, beginner to advanced.
Why attend: Pool time is an excellent opportunity to practice your wet exits, self rescues, assisted rescues or rolling technique in a friendly, safe and warm environment. This is also a great opportunity to connect with other Club Locarno kayakers and plan trips for the coming paddle season. It's is also a chance to learn how to load and safely karry kayaks on kars. It can be a hot tub time - relax in the Lord Byng hot tub on a cold winter evening.
We'll have six boats in the pool with a paddler. We can also have one 'helper' per kayak in the pool to coach and assist. If you're not in a kayak or actively helping you'll have to sit in the hot tub.
We'll meet at JSCA at 6pm to load boats and gear onto the cars - we need three cars that can safely carry kayaks (roof rack bars preferred).
What to bring: Bring your swim suit, rash shirt and towel. Also, bring swim goggles as being able to see clearly under the water really helps orient yourself when upside down. Nose clips if you don't like water up your nose.
Lord Byng Pool Rules:
There are four pool sessions planned. Depending on demand for this event, we may limit the number of pool seasons you can join. We need three cars and drivers, so we may need to give preference to those members who can help with transportation.
