SUP Social: Floating Musical Festival at Jericho

Let's launch our SUP summer socials with a floating concert! On Friday, June 27,  we'll join a paddle-powered, on the water festival at Jericho Beach. We'll do a very short paddle off the beach and then float up to the tall ship stage to enjoy an evening of great music. Consider bringing a snack to share on the water :)

Meet: 6:15 PM • Launch: 6:45 PM • Showtime: 7–9 PM

There will be live funk‑groove sets from top East Van artists and surprise guests announced on the day-of! Expect sunset views over mountains and community energy on the water.

️The concert is an annual fundraiser for the work of Indigenous Nations to protect coastal ecosystems for future generations. Please purchase a ticket or make a donation if you can https://events.humanitix.com/float. 100% of proceeds and ticket fees benefit RAVEN Trust, supporting Heiltsuk Nation’s fight for ocean protection. 

SUP socials are member run and a chance to meet other paddlers - perhaps plan future excursions.  We will try to have a group leader for each social event.  The socials will vary depending on the group, from just a nice easy paddle to slightly more strenuous.  The group will stay together for the social.

The event is set for up to 7 people (the number of level 1 SUPs available). We could accommodate 2 more on the inflatable SUPs. Message Gay if the event is full and you want to join us or if you are able to use a level 2 board.

Launch from the beach at 6:45pm!  So, aim to meet at 6:15pm to get organized.  Return: at dusk (30min after sunset) at the latest. 

Guests & new members:  NEW MEMBERS ARE WELCOME!  Check with the SUP Director to see if someone might be able to sign you out as a guest and that you have suitable skills to join the social paddle. You may also bring a guest who has SUP paddling experience (remember you are responsible for guests & equipment you sign out).      

Please register for the event, and cancel if you can't make it so others know if they will have company.  Please check if others are registered before turning up, unless you're happy to paddle alone.  

Weather permitting - we'll probably cancel if its raining or winds higher than 10-15km/h. Please watch the #sup channel on Club Locarno Slack for last minute changes.
