About the boat

The Tasar was designed in the early 1970s as a boat for couples. A very light (150 pounds) and sophisticated double-handed boat (think rotating mast, whisker pole, to begin with). The class took off in Australia, where 50 years later it is still one of the most popular dinghies. Strong fleets eventually developed in Japan and England, and also in the Pacific Northwest, where good fleets grew in Seattle, Portland and Vancouver.

About the event

This clinic includes Part 1 and Part 2 of the checkout. It is for experienced sailors who want to be cleared to use a new fleet; it is also a great refresher. For those who are doing their first checkout, it will include an orientation to the sailing fleet and club room.

You will also require an on-water checkout (Part 3); this is a separate registration. Details of our checkout clinics can be found at Sailing Orientations and Checkout Clinics.

Prerequisites

All checkout participants must know how to sail and preferably have experience on or an a similar boat class. We recommend you take a look at the Rigging instructions and the Tasar Manual to have an idea of what to expect beforehand.
