Windsurf & Wing Orientation & Checkout

Registration

  • This is the fleet director, a captain or an experienced fleet member will perform the checkout
  • This is for the person who wants to be checked out for both Windsurfing & Winging, either with a foiling.
  • This is for the person who wants to be checked out for both Windsurfing & Winging, but not foiling.
  • This is for the person who wants to be checked out for Windsurf foiling (note, you have to be windsurf level 2 already)
  • This is for the person who wants to be checked out for conventional Windsurfing, not foiling
  • This is for the person who wants to be checked out for Wing foiling
  • This is for the person who wants to be checked out for Winging, but not foiling. i.e. Wing with longboard (L1)

Register

Status: Date & time subject to confirmation once a leader is signed up.

Would be leaders: If needed, please contact the Fleet Director to modify the date and time of the clinic.

Windsurfing Fleet Orientation & Checkout

This checkout is mandatory for ALL members wishing to use our windsurfing fleet. This is not a windsurfing lesson. To attend this checkout you are expected to have either:

Successful completion of the checkout will qualify you to use the appropriate  fleet gear.

Registration

Select the registration option that matches skills and experience you currently have and gear you wish to access. 

If you are an existing fleet member and want to move up a level, such as smaller boards and foils, please contact a fleet captain or the fleet director separately.

Orientation

The orientation will: 

  • Show you where our windsurfing equipment is stored
  • Go over the windsurfing craft sign out procedure
  • How to properly transport the gear to and from the beach
  • How to report damage.

Please read the Rules, Procedures and Safety Precautions page ahead of time.

Skills checkout

The skills checkout will require you to demonstrate your ability to:
  • Launch, sail out, tack and sail your windsurfing board safely back to the beach,
  • Self rescue technique.

Demonstration is waived if you recently, successfully completed Windsure's Discover Windsurfing I & II or Discover Wing Surfing lessons.

Additional skills demonstration maybe required to access more advanced equipment than L1 boards (i.e. longboard fin boards).

Please wear your wetsuit (mandatory for windsurfing) to be ready to demonstrate your on-water skills.

At the discretion of the checkout leader the on-water test may be waived.
