Introduction to Foiling Clinic, Orientation and Checkout (confirmed)

Introduction

The clinic, orientation and checkout are required for members who would like to access the appropriate foiling equipment.

The session will cover:

  • Correct Club Locarno procedures for storing, rigging, carrying and using foil equipment,
  • Confirmation of prerequisite experience, and
  •  Skills clinic for first flights (optional for experienced foilers).

The event is free. Please use the registration form to register as either:

  • A leader, to teach the clinic,
  • An attendee for wing foiling, 
  • An attendee for windsurf foiling, or
  • An assistant leader (optional), who's helping or shadowing the leader.

Prerequisites

The following is the prerequisite levels of experience:

  • Windsurf foiling access - Level 3 and advanced level 2 windsurfing, capable of uphauling on 135L boards and has excellent sail handling skills.
  • Wing foiling access - Proficient level 1 winging, capable of sailing a course and keeping upwind on a 135L board.

Depending on the weather we may go on the water, so come prepared.

Afterwards

Members who satisfy prerequisite experience will be granted access and can immediately use equipment. 

Following the clinic, members are encouraged to go for a drink or food at the JSCA Galley.

Please note:

  • This event does not require wind.
  • This clinics is to help members progress their skills by seeking advice from a leader who is a fellow member providing suggestions on how to improve. It is not a formal lessons or coaching. The leaders are volunteers sharing personal experience and techniques.
  • Attendees are responsible for their own personal safety and care of equipment.
  • In the event of unusually high wind, we may decide to reschedule the clinic to take advantage and just go windsurfing.
