Sechelt Inlet — Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September - Two Nights

Register here to express interest in going on this trip.

This is primarily exploration trip with flexibility to adjust the route and campsite depending on weather and how the group is feeling.
We will mostly likely be launching from around Lambs Bay / Tuwanek Beach ; hand-railing the east side of the inlet coastline and stopping at campsites along the way for snacks / pee/ stretch breaks
We will aim for Kunechin Point for Saturday night, with Nine Mile Beach as an alternative depending on conditions and group pace.
Sunday, paddle back down the west side of the inlet, with a lunch stop at one of the beaches/campsites before crossing back to the launch side.
Maximum distance of approximately 15 km per day, with an early start to avoid stronger afternoon winds.
Tentative itinerary:

  • Friday: 6:05pm or 7:05pm ferry from Horseshoe Bay → drive to Porpoise Bay → camp overnight.
  • Saturday: Drive to Lambs Bay / Tuwanek → launch → paddle north along the east side → camp around Kunechin Point / Nine Mile Beach.
  • Sunday: Paddle south along the west side → lunch stop → cross back to the launch side → return for the ferry. Possible ferries at 3:35pm, 4:55pm or 5:55pm.

Sechelt Inlet is generally a relatively easy area to paddle, with no particularly strong currents. Wind can pick up in the afternoon, so we’ll aim to get on the water early. Trip is aim for Level 1 / Level 2 paddlers, comfortable paddling some distances.

Expected costs
