This is our big annual windsurfing trip to Nitinat Lake which takes place over the British Columbia Day long weekend (first weekend in August) and is open to all members.
Wind conditions are ideal for high wind sailors. Throughout the summer the lake experiences strong thermal winds. Mornings start still and by mid afternoon winds can reach 25-30Kts and sometimes higher. Full information about this trip destination is available here.
Members are expected to help transport gear and arrange car sharing with other members. Many members will take extra vacations days and so will try to car pool with others leaving and returning at the same time. Once you register, the confirmation email will contain a link to a shared Google doc which members can use to organize ride sharing.
As we did last year we plan to share the cost of a van to transport much of the gear. NOTE: Nitinat is a remote location and without drinking water. Everything you need to camp with should be brought with you.
There is no limit on participants but there will be some limits on the number of boards and sails. What level boards go will depend upon the profile of the members who register. Although we hope there is enough gear for everyone, we do expect gear to be shared if there are too many people in a certain level. Typically the wind blows for at least 5 hours per day so there is ample opportunity to sail.
