Certain sailing crafts may be rented in order to use at regattas that do not take place at the JSCA. Members must get approval from the sailing director or fleet captain via email or the Club Locarno slack channel.

A craft can be rented for up to ten days, one boat per person. You take full responsibility for loss and damage when you rent gear from the club.  The rate for rentals is $50 for the first day and $20 for each subsequent day.

Rentals for competition are on case-by-case basis. Club Locarno wants to support member's participation in such events, however the member must have demonstrated appropriate skill with the craft. Once the sailing director has confirmed your rental, you will be given a rental code to complete your booking.

Please read the Sailing Rental Agreement for Competition. As you complete your registration, these are the terms that you will be agreeing to.

Boats cannot be reserved ahead of time so you should plan on picking up the boat either at dusk of the evening prior to rental or early on the day of the rental. Ensure you have appropriate gear to transport the boats safely.  There are some foam blocks and straps in the kayak shed.

Craft Sign-out Procedure:
Please do not do these steps until you are down at Jericho to pick up your rental boat.

  1. Pack up the boat for transport. Ensure you do a walk around to check for any damage. If you find damage that isn't already notes in the craft sign-out system, include it in your "Report a Problem" comment (see below). If the damage will affect your rental, contact the sailing director or captain. Ensure you do a walk around to check for any damage.
  2. Sign out the boat under "Racing" including a comment that states the details of your rental. Before completing the sign-out, copy your comment so you can paste it again in a later screen.
         Event name: _____
         Location: _____
         Dates: _____  days from _______ to _______

  3. Immediately sign the boat back in and select "Report a Problem"
  4. Paste the same rental details into the Problem Description box, then change the Craft Status to "UNavailable".

Craft Return Procedure:

  1. Unpack and re-rig the boat to get it back into working order for the club. Ensure you do a walk around to check for any damage or missing parts. If you find anything new wrong with the boat, include it in your "Craft Status Update" comment (see below).

  2. Update the availability of the boat in the craft sign-out system.
