Club Locarno's Waszp lessons are coming up quick!

In advance of the lessons, we are offering a demo for any Club Locarno member to try out the boat and see if you like the idea of learning to sail a foiling boat! Even if you aren't interested in sailing a Waszp long term, you can still come do a demo just to see what it is like to be on one.

This demo event is open to all skill levels. If you want a chance of flying on the Waszp, these are helpful skills to have:
- Confidence in righting capsized boats
- Confidence in skippering a boat in 15+ knots of wind and in gusty conditions
- Good/Fast double handed sheeting
This awesome GoPro footage gives you a first person perspective of sailing the Waszp. It comes from a Club Locarno youth member who learned to sail the Waszp this past winter!
This event is scheduled over a 7 hour period, but your individual demo will only be a maximum of 1.5 hours long. A few days before the event, we will organize people into groups of 2 or 3 people. You will be emailed with information about what time you should come down. Each demo will include:
- 15 minutes of on beach instruction
- 15 minutes to get out onto the water to meet the Waszp
- 10 minutes per person of trying to sail the Waszp
- 15 minutes to get back to shore
- 5 -15 min debrief to ask questions and discuss lesson availability. If you enjoyed your demo, sign up for a lesson on the spot!
When trying out the Waszp, come prepared to get wet! Please arrive 5 minutes before your demo time already dressed to get in the water (this means a wetsuit and PFD). If you do not own a wetsuit, you can rent one from Windsure on the East side of the Jericho compound. We will provide you with helmets.
Please wear shoes that you don't mind getting wet. Water shoes are ideal, but old sneakers are fine (as long as you are comfortable swimming in them). The Waszp is very slippery to climb on if you are bare foot.
You will receive an email a couple days before the demo day to let you know what time your demo will take place. The star on the picture below is where we will meet.
