    Hey Locarno Sailors,

we are here in Locarno to have fun on the water together. There is no better way to appreciate the ocean and to develop your sailing skills then racing.

This meeting is to form our Locarno sailing team. This year we are planning to participate in local regattas.

    The meeting is to understand:

WHAT is Locarno Sailing Team? (Formula to acquire rating points, Trophy)

WHY to race (F18, Taser, Laser) with Locarno Sailing Team?

WHO would like to participate in Club Locarno Sailing Team in Locarno way?

Being Locarno club member you do not need to buy a boat. Race all club boats we have. They are yours. Sail them in Locarno way. But, first of all, have fun on the water with friends!

Learn to fly downwind!  We have four catamarans and a skiff that are equipped with asymmetrical spinnakers; the objective of this course is to develop the basic skills that can be used on either monohulls or cats.

We will be learning on the Nacra 580, as it provides a stable, forgiving platform and will accommodate two sailors and an instructor.

To take this course, you must have CANSail 3, CYA Bronze or equivalent experience, and at least 20 hours as skipper on a catamaran.  Attendance at a cat rigging clinic (to learn to rig the spinnaker) would also be helpful.  In addition, you should refresh your knowledge by reviewing the instructional videos for Catamaran Rigging Complete and Catamaran Capsize on our website found here Sailing Documents and Links

This course consists of one three-hour session led by a Cansail-certified instructor from MacSailing.  If conditions are suitable, plan to keep sailing after the lesson in order to practice what you have learned.

This checkout is for experienced paddlers who can demonstrate a competent solo recovery with a paddle float, and recovery of another kayaker (T-rescue is the recommended technique.)

Existing fleet members may also take this as a refresher course.

Please bring immersion gear (wetsuit or drysuit), wind breaker jacket, hat and a warm drink.  All other gear will be provided.

Please register as space is limited, and so we can email you more details.

Adam will be your session leader.

    Email kayaking@clublocarno.com with any questions.
